the huawei mate 40 pro or should i say

and the beast we are comparing both
phones in terms of display
performance camera design and battery
stay tuned and find out who's the beauty
and who's the beast

let's start straight away with our
review let the facts speak
display the iphone 12 pro max has a 6.7
inch display with a 1284p resolution
the 6.7 inch display therefore measures
17 centimeter diagonally with a pixel
density of 458 ppi
the iphone solid screen creates as usual
very natural colors
the refresh rate on the iphone 12 pro
max is 60 hertz
the question is why didn't apple upgrade
their screens to 120 hertz
every flagship seems to have that
feature nowadays it would have been
reasonable if apple would have done the
same but apple is known to go their own
way let's take a closer look at huawei's
display
the mate 40 pro has a 6.76 inch display
with a 1 344 p resolution
it also uses an old screen which creates
very accurate colors
the 6.76 inch display therefore measures
17.17 centimeter diagonally with a pixel
density of 456 ppi
the huawei has a 90 hertz refresh rate
so here it is the uri seems to have a bigger screen with a higher resolution and has 90hz
refresh rate which should have let it
win this category but we call it a draw and here's the reason why let me explain despite the fact that iphone has a tiny bit more pixel density
than the mate the mate has a bigger screen on paper but effectively it is smaller what do i mean with that when you look at the screen of the
huawei and you have for example a picture open
the curved edges let the edges of the picture get those weird distortions that makes the screen smaller because the edges are simply not usable
which is one of the reason why i don't get that manufacturers still use curved edges it just does not look good in my opinion and we also have to address the fact that apple also still uses the notch and did not come up with a better solution but is the nudge of pillbox cut
out on the huawei so much better i'd say no anyways we decided to call it a draw both phones get a point in this category
camera the mate 40 pro uses a three
rear camera system an ultra right with 20 megapixel a wide with 50 megapixel and a telephoto camera with 12 megapixel
you can find the ultra right 30 megapixel front camera in the upper left corner of the screen.
and a pillbox cutout right next to the 3d depth version camera it records 4k videos at a maximum of 60 frames it also has image stabilization for video huawei's cameras have been one of the best in our comparisons
let's take a look at the camera specs of
the iphone the iphone 12 pro max has a
treble rear camera system it features a 12 megapixel ultra right a 12 megapixel wide
and a 12 megapixel telephoto camera the
front camera resolution is also 12 megapixel.
The iphone 12 pro max records 4k videos
at a maximum of 60 frames per second
and of course it has image stabilization
for video the 12 pro max also has a
sensor shift optical image stabilization for its wide angle camera both phones have good camera systems but which one is actually the better system let's take it to our camera test and let's find out which one does a better job comparing the daylight pictures it gets pretty clear that the iphone has more details and more contrast than huawei'smate 40 pro and the white balance seemsmore accurate on apple's device cropped in you notice the difference huawei looks like someone drew a picture on microsoft paint the pictures taken at nighttime conditions are darker and have more grain on the iphone but have much more detail cropped in you can tell that huawei's look way softer i'd say too soft but with less grain in case of the front camera the huawei.
Actually took sharper images the 12 pro max has a 5 volt optical and a 12 volt digital zoom feature the mate 40 pro has a 5 volt optical and 50 volt digital zoom feature okay let's switch from photo to video what you can see and here is the quality of apple's iphone 12 pro max.
video recording we set it to the highest
possible video quality let's see what the competitor sounds and looks like
what you can see and here are the
quality of the huawei mate 40 pro
video recording we set it to the highest
possible quality we think that the sound quality of the huawei is better than that of the iphone.
let's scope in a bit in post to see how it looks like as you can see the iphone looks way softer and grainier the color temperature is also warmer than its competitor it seems like that it has problems in this light environment as you can see both look pixelated when cropped in.
The huawei mate 40 pro still looks a bit better than the iphone 12 pro max the huawei does a better job in terms of sharpness thanks to a resolution of 4k the mate 40 pro produces first-class videos with 480 frames per second in 1080p mode and up to 3840 frames per second in 720p mode your slow motions are more than a go the iphone thinks the resolution of 4k also produces first-class videos with 240 frames per second in full hd mode your slow-motion videos are go both phones feature great camera systems but the iphone shoots better pictures.
And the huawei is better when it comes
to videos we decided to call it the draw
because to win in this category you have
to win both therefore one point to the huawei mate 40 pro and one point to apple's iphone 12 pro max performance the huawei mate 40 pro has 256 gigabyte internal storage capacity it is equipped with its in-house produced high silicon pure 9000 chip and has 8 gigabyte ram the storage capacity can be expanded with another gigabyte there's also a 128 gigabyte and a 512 gigabyte version available but that depends on the country you are in huawei's high selecting current 9000 is next to apple's a14 bionic ship the first one that uses the 5 nanometer process technology the iphone 12 pro max is equipped with apple's a14 bionic chip the phone has 6 gigabyte ram and the individual models offer different
storage capacities 128
256 and 512 gigabyte are available dodge
capacity unfortunately cannot be
expanded as it is typically for apple
iphone devices huawei uses its own processor that either works out for a manufacturer like apple's superb bionic ship or it really doesn't like samsung's exynos let's find out if it works out for
huawei and bring them both into the
antutu benchmark test the tests are divided into three phrases a performance test of the ram a test of how the device is handling
two-dimensional graphics and an endurance test of how the device
is handling 3d graphics the mate 40 pro did an extra ordinary job and scored an even better score than the iphone 12 pro max
and therefore wirefully takes home the
performance point by the way if you want to see the full performance comparison
click here design the huawei mate 4d pro has a clean design with a matte finish the three camera system is well positioned in a
ring on the upper center on the back of
the phone like most phones the camera
bump is pretty big but since it is more centered it tends to wobble less when it lays on a flat surface the smartphone weighs 212 gram it is roughly 16.29 centimeter long
7.55 centimeter wide and 0.91 centimeter
deep it has a usbc connector and thanks to an ip68 rating it is water and dust
resistant the mate 40 pro uses a
fingerprint scanner which is built into
the screen and face recognition technology to unlock the phone both technologies were
great still a fan of the curved edges and like
i mentioned in my opinion it doesn't make
sense since it takes away recognizable
display space let's take a closer look at the iphone's design the iphone 12 pro max has a glossy stainless steel frame and a matte glass finish on the back typically for apple it has a very high end.
